Northstar 6000i Screen is dim

The screen on my Northstar 6000i chartplotter has all of a sudden gone dim. HTe brightness control will not brighten it at all. I can still see the screen but it is like reading it in the dark.

I noticed that it went to an orange background instead of the pale pale blue shade that shows the sea that you navigate in and then back again on two occasions prior to this but thought nothing of it.

Any ideas on what has happened?

your backlight is done.. and so is your unit... backlight will cost appx $800 to fix if you have no warranty..if you have waranty you may be ok... mine was 14 months old when it went out and they said!!!!!!Pay me. then no guarantee on repair... I told them to throw ir in the dumnpster.. switched to garmin repair deal is more reasonable good product but not quite what i wanted...good Luck

Had a 962 repaired 3 times for the same issue before the tech talked me into replacing with the 6000i. The 6000i went back to the factory for same problem twice in first 2 years. Been using Northstar for 20 years but these last 2 machines were completely unreliable so won't be buying anymore Northstar stuff.
