New 42' Custom Carolina first Stage
Just thought Y'all out there would be interested in the many stages, there are to build a Carolina boat.
This is just the beginning Stem attached to the keel, with the horn timber getting attached. Enjoy! Will post pics as its completed. Will be used as a charter boat down here out of Wanchese. Any interests call 252-453-9500, that is for a charter. Or the tournaments, Pirates Cove. White Marlin open, Mid- Atlantic. Last edited by Jer; 10-20-2007 at 04:50 PM. Reason: resized the pictures |

Capt. Bobby Sullivan is building her in Point Harbor, N.C.
His shop is down the road from my house and I stopped by to pick his brain on one of the boats he had that I am doing some work on and checked it out. He was cutting out the shaft log in the keel when I was there. He builds his boats the old school way, meaning they are lofted, built right side up plank on frame instead of the way some of the newer guys build them, upside down with the use of a jig. He started building boats with his Grandfather in this same shop. Amazing, two by fours and tin and has weathered many a storm but it's still there. This will be boat number 32 for Sullivan boatworks. Not everybody cares for the old school style but it takes a true craftsman to build one from the ground up like this. The white piece of plywood that you see in the picture next to the keel simulates the engine and where it will be located, this is all part of laying one out and having it balanced. I think he said she will be an express with a single screw, Keith will tell us. Going to be a great boat Keith, good luck with the build. Can't wait to see her in the water next Summer. Also, if you look at the first picture that Keith posted you can see all of the new plywood on the front of the shop, look out the door and you can just see the lower bow of the last one he built, a 58 footer. They had to dig a trench in the floor to get her out because it was higher than the door. The new wood that you see is what they had to replace after they tore it down to get the boat out.
