    Need a radar...

I have a Garmin 3206 and want to network a radar to it. The new Garmin 18 HD and 24D look like the schizzle, but I wanted some opinions on them. I don't think my boat will pull the juice for an open array and I'd like to save the money with a dome. Are you able to find birds with these new domes? Does anyone have experience with either of these and how would you compare it to the Furuno or others?

Don't have any experience with the Garmin radars but you will need atleast 4kw to pick up birds. I have a Furuno with 2k dome and I can not pick up birds.

    Radome radar.

I don't have any personal experience with Garmin Radar, however I used to have a Ray Marine 4kw Dome and could not pick up birds. However if you would think about going the extra for the Garmin 24HD Dome you would have a better chance. It has a range of 48 miles, if you mount it high enough, and Digital Signal Processing, providing sharper radar imagery and improved target separation that may show the birds.
