    FIBERGLASS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!

That's about all I have to report.

Can't take a picture. My camera is stuck to me along with everything else in the basement.
    Personally,

I would have used the resin with wax. That way, if you make a mess of the first layer, you can sand before applying the next layer. But that's just me.

Disposable coveralls, latex gloves, and acetone are the cure for keeping the sticky plague away. Just don't get any acetone on anything plastic, your precious camera for example. Melted camera could make for an expensive project.

After you've spent a few hours with your head in the box sanding you'll appreciate how much more fun the fiberglassing part was.

    That's funny....

I locked him upstairs..... I figured that if I didn't he would be walking around with the box stuck to him.

I started with the bottom of the box as my learning curve.

Good start. Looks like you got good saturation and no obvious air bubbles even on the corners.

If you mix your resin/catalyst in small batches (ie: just enough for 1 panel) you can control the gel time, and maybe get a whole layer down - all of the sides and bottom in one shot - no reason to wait for each section to setup. By the time you flip it over to do the inside, you'll have it down enough to do the whole thing in 1 shot...

It is easier to get the second layer on while the first layer is still wet.

My previous lab had a purple nose for a while - I was building a kayak and she put her nose in wet resin... REALLY NOT RECOMMENDED...Keep Chopper upstairs...

    Update

First off I would like to thank everyone for all of the great input.

Well here it is so far.... I have 4 layers of glass on the inside and 2 on the outside. I also have two additional layers on the flange for support.

It's a bit more work then I thought it would be.

The pictures below are just after I finished the last coat. It is still wet in these pictures.

I guess I have to give it a good sanding and on to fairing....

I have the glass beads. How thick should I make the mixture?

Oh.... and just a little perk from doing this project. Chopper is no longer shedding all over the house

    Ted -
It looks great. A lot better than some of my first attempts...

For fairing, I like the consistency of smooth peanut butter - stiff enough not to sag, but not to hard to spread quickly.

BTW: You will likely be surprised just how much of the micro balloons you have to use. Also - it helps a bunch to use a cheap drill mounted mixer - a lot faster and much more consistent

Did Chopper stop shedding because you glued his hair in? oe was it the mud bath?
