    Sail,
I have the 220's behind my B series also. Last week we checked on a trolling valve, they have replaced the old style which cost around 800.00 or so with a new version that now cost 3100.00 I ask if it was a mistake and ZF said no it was not. A new 220 is only 3600 hundred, WOW, trolling valve cost almost as much as a new gear.

You may be able to find one of the older styles if you look around.

    Good luck.

HOw has been your fishign up there in Quepos? Our sails have slowed but there have been a lot of black marlin around! Haven't fished much. I am state side now!

    ZF220A Trolling Valve

I don't know if our original poster ever got his trolling valve, but if not, here's a picture that may help you understand what all will look like after the installation..

Not for the faint of heart on this particular gear, but doable if you have good access and your gear is not a rust bucket...

After you get it installed, then you have to come up with a reliable & SAFE control system for it.. Another project and down there, it's going to be double tough.. With this valve and gear, usually a venier type push-pull cable is the simplest and easiest. Having a good 0-400 PSI trans oil gauge on the dash also help as all of your trolling will take place in a very small range of abut 25-50 PSI on the forward clutch pack.. Normal operational pressures are 200-350 PSI-ish..

If we can help, drop us a note.. I believe I have a .pdf ZF install guide that I can send you showing all the specs on the install..
