Davey boy... The only thing holding the stuff you sell together is the dirt so "farmer" was pretty close...

These engines had aftermarket "protection" on them and this was their people that did the tests and work... Their dime... Did sensors and other maintainence crap while we were in there anyway...
I'm not gonna complain. Doing all the testing we did showed no major issues. No skelletons in the closet to come out and bite us. Happy engines now even happier... Hadn't done a good go through since we bought her and it's been almost a year. Was in the schedule anyway, just a couple weeks early...

Tryin' to be the man, my dog think's I am. marine diesel service owner

    I can't imagine,

the reasoning of a "mechanic" worth his weight, allowing brake cleaner to run though an engine beats me. I mean that's pure solvent. Does the term "metal to metal" mean anything? That's what was happening until more oil coated the wall's of the liner's. Never mind the volatility of what was going on during combustion. I'm not the "sharpest knife" in the drawer, but come on !!!!! Hope it work's out for ya.
On another note, in this world of computer controlled engine's and all, basic "troubleshooting" can not be replaced or overlooked. Under all the sensor's, wiring and computer program's there is still an engine. Air, fuel, and timing. That hasn't changed. Frank

Again it wasn't while running and hand cycling ensured oil there after just one revolution. Again a don't try this at home trick. Only seen a handful of old timer pros use it.

Agreed that the tests past the computer were far more important. Yes takes time but well worth the peace of mind it left behind... No gripes in checking it all... On the air box computer can only show boost in front. Can't see behind like a manual guage. Guage showed more air behind than in front! Bypass letting go a bit prematue. No substitute for manual when all is said and done. Bottom line is she runs better than she ever has...
