need boat insurance for restored older boat

anyone know who insures older boats? have 1980 24 albe completly gutted and rebuilt everything new in 2010/11. http://www.thehulltruth.com/boating-...33-1980-a.html having trouble finding insurance coverage. even the ins co advertizing here fails to respond.

I've got the 36 Mako 1979 insured with Charter Lakes. Ask for Nicole Luster.

They did a great job for me, would not consider anyone else.

I second Charter Lakes. I have been with them for 10-15 years. Took a direct lightning strike about 1.5 years ago and was pleased with the ins outcome. One thing I would like to suggest is that you get "replacement" or how ever they word it so they don't depreciate you to death on anything over 5 years old. Keep your receipts forever because y'll need them if a claim is needed.

Raquel, was a great salesperson for them. Shewould respond to phone calls immediately and get it solved and done within a day. I wont mention the name of the other girl but, she has the personality of burnt toast. I used to just hang up when she answered. No personality at all. Its a shame raquel left there, she could have had a hugh following and added recognition to J Byrne. Sorry to hear that no one called you back. It didnt used to be that way.


By the way, a restored boat can be hard to insure for what you have in it. Keep that in mind. I completely restored a 15 whaler, ss..........I had at least 14,000 dollars in it plus all my time. They only insured it for 8,000. So what. I sold it for 11000 grand on e bay. It was too small for me, even though I enjoyed restoring it. If I had a shed to put a boat in, I would buy that 36 rybovich in florida and restore that with yanmars.......just because.

on my defective World Cat boat, a used boat, I know first hand how I was treated during the investigative and insurance review process and I would recommend Safeco.

Safeco sent the President of the Northwest chapter of SAMS out and looked at my boat and it took him all of 10 minutes of looking at the hatches and damage to come to the conclusion the boat was a defect. Safeco sent me a check within 30 days for the surveyed value of the boat.

Next boat I buy will have Safeco insurance!

Hoping this was just a miss communication as Jybrne has tried very hard to be very responsive. We all have issues but I know they want your buisness.
If there is anything i can do of course I would help bridge the gap in any way.
