need advice on 29 or 32 regulator

im looking at 2 boats, both 2006 the first is a 29 fs regulator with twin yamaha 250 4 strokes foward seating with 100 hours. the second is a 2006 32 with yamaha 250 four strokes with 100 hours and no foward seating. to me it seems you lose a lot of storage without it. Some say the 250s are underpowered for the 32. both boats have the extended warranties on the motors and same electronics and same price 120,000. Any opinion of the rides and performance? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thats a great price but unfortunately they are both underpowered. I was stuck on Regulator for a long time until I really did my research. There are so many brands out there that offer more for the same or less money.

If you are absolutely stuck on Regulator .... Go with the 29. If not, PLEASE do youreslf justice and spend some time looking at Yellowfin, Sea Hunter and last but certainly not biased Contender.

There are some great deals out there to be had these days so take your time and get to know the market.

Good luck to ya and please lte us know what you end up with and how much you love it!

I personally have never been on a 32 but from what I have heard it absoultly needs 350's and the 29 was said to be wet and not the greatest either. I really do not have 1st hand knowledge of the boats. The 26 is bad ass for its class. If you are looking for a 32 w 350's I know where to find one. It's not on the market and has less than 40 hrs on it. To my suprise this sucker new costs more than a 33t Contender . They guy is willing to let her go fairly

Check out the Contenders, they offer fwd seating in all thier boats and are great people to work with!

25 Open 28' would be comprable to the 29 and the 31t 32'6 to the 32. If you want the cream of the crop get yourself on a 33t

If you have any questions on the boats feel free to ask. I have break downs on all the boats with comparisons to options to price. I also have other boats available world wide!

Best of the best with your fishing mission!

Get the 29. The 32 with 250's is underpowered. The 29 runs great and don't believe the crap that she is a wet boat. All center consoles are wet boats. I have been on yellowfins, contenders, scrabs, fountain etc. The regulator is a heavy, solid, well made boat. She is slower then some of the competition out there, but she will hold up in the long run. I am very happy with my 2006 29fs w 250's. She is a 1.4 / 1.5 boat.
It all depends on what you are going to do with her.
If you are doing poker runs by a fountain or a donzi. If you are out fishing and want to feel comfortable, get the REG.
Plus resale is strong with the REG.

Go with the one that makes you happy, both are great boats

Yes the economy and speed on the 32 w/ twin 250's is not the best but it's a solid boat. I like the fact that the one you're looking at has the open "Classic" bow. You loose a lot of fishing space with the forward seating. We have the 2006 26FS w/twin 250's, and the ONLY thing we wish is that it had the open bow. I hear good things about the 29. I think you will be happy with either if they fit you fishing style at the price you want to pay. How much is the Edgewater 318 w/350's? Or the "Cream of the Crop 33T"? Is it in his $120,000 range with electronics and warranties?

No need to jump on my back buddy! Cream of the crop is for the Contender forward seating. I am not a bias person but there are other options out there that many do not explore and the forward seating being a newer option for Contender most are unaware of it having forward seating.

I do this for a living I watch boats like the stock market. I could care less what people buy, its thier money and thier decision but its an investment and like a 2nd home and I want people to make an educated buy and avoid many mistakes others have made. I am not here to spam or fight with people. Never have never will!

I would also like to comment on resale. The Regulators are a great boat by all means but in recent discovery owners are having a tough time selling them. Some of the Contenders are experiencing it but not as badly. The T's are a whole new series of boats and as of now they are fine and should remain fine for many years to come. I have been experiencing the past few months a shortage of certain size models used there is just none out there.

For example a guy I spoke to the other week has an excellent 26 very clean and spotless and worth every penny that he is asking. When I go to the market there are 30 more of them out there all a little different but not much looking for higher and lower than what he is looking for. Now he has 30 boats to compete with in 10-15k price difference. Regulator and quite a few of its dealers have made BAD decision in what they sold boats for some got raped and others set free. What does that do to a market, it is not level by any means

The 32 Regulator is not to far away and the 29 is not so bad at this point.

As for can I put him in one for 120k I am 98% sure. I have pulled many tricks out of my hat in the past and I am very confident and comfortable shopping for boats with my knowledge skills and network. I would never steer somebody wrong.

Are all center consoles wet? Yes at times have I got wetter on others hell yeah

A comment that I heard at the Contender Regulator shootout from a Regulator owner at breakfast and they were a 29 or 32. "I wish we were on a Contender that went by us yesterday morning they looked so dry and comfortable, it sucked" No lie I heard it. Maybe they do not know how to run the boat properly its possible but not everyone knows how to properly run a boat without experience and not everyone has the experience.

I don't get paid to sell Contenders I am not with a dealer anymore and I am on my own and EVERYONE is entitled to thier own opinion and facts.

Like I said best of the best in your search if I can be of help its free and you are more than welcome!

    I DONT GET IT...

WHY PEOPLE WANT THESE BOATS.. I MEAN THE FISHAROUND CAPABILITIES ARE NICE BUT SO WHAT... THE COCKPITS ARE TINY AND THEY ARE NOT RUNNING 40+ KTS IN ANYTHING LIKE THEY THINK.

i have spent tons of time and i WILL NOT AND I REPEAT I WILL NOT RAIN ON ANYONES PARADE OR SCREW WITH THEIR DREAMS OF OWNING ONE.. but as a consumer i am going to voice my opinion and attempt to justify it..

all CCs are wet.. ALL BOATS ARE WET!! but with ccs you got no way to get out of the elements unless you buy something with a cuddy or something to that effect.

the boats run fast but are not running fast thru 4-6s like they claim.. they do not get the great fuel mileage that everyone preaches.. they are not doing their testing in the NE they are doing their testing in flat calm seas or test tanks!!
just the way the industry works.

any salesman will promise you the world.. you want to spend that kind of money?? go get a 28 henriques.. not that is worth it.

i got my smaller CC which is a 24 proline CC and it has more cockpit room than a new 32 contender!

I was checking out canyon runners this past weekend when i stopped down before they went offshore for a chat with adam, phill and checked out the new boats! the regulator is SWEET trust me.. but i dont think it is jusifiable for the money you are going to spend on it.. plus there is NO WHERE to get out of the weather is CHIT hits the fan.. i have been doing my research and i have checked out numerous boats on the market and i could not justify nor would i allow myself to buy a big cc like that.. WHY!?!? i asked myself.

WHY would i want to be in a light boat going back when i wont be able to go that fast more than ahand ful of times.?!??!

i rather push 28kts in 4s in the 28 henriques than waste my money on getting outboards and not being able to run in it.. IT IS NOT COMFORTABLE!!

I AM NOT SAYING YOU CAN NOT DO THE RUNNING, BUT IT IS NOT COMFORTABLE.. THESE BOATS ARE NOT KEELED!!! THEY SLAM AND THEY SLAM!! SOME MAY BEG TO DIFFER BUT THEY ARE NOT RUNING 40 IN 4S!!

like i said.. i am no professional but please take my comments as they are.. no one jump on me as this is JUST HOW I FEEL! AND I FEEL STRONGLY ABOUT IT!

GOOD LUCK SHOPPING BUT DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND KEEP SHOPPING!! YOU BUY THE BOAT YOU WANT, DONT LET ANY SALES PERSON SELL YOU A BOAT!!

YOU GOT TO DRIVE IT, FISH IT, CLEAN IT, AND MAINTAIN IT.....

    GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SEARCH!
