The burn rate is not actually that bad. I have a 32 w/ 350's. Run the boat around 4100 - 4300 and moving along @ 32-34 kts and getting 1.2 - 1.3 mpg . Bump it up to 5000 and your moving 41 kts and getting 0.9 - 1 mpg . The weight of the boat makes it able to run in some snotty stuff pretty comfortably.

But guess what....cleaning it, maintaining, etc etc etc....was TOO much for me....the cost was WAY too much....so we traded her in on a 23' Open Contender....guess what....the boat gets 3mpg at 30mph cruise....at 4000rpm...I was out drum fishing(keep in mind I'm still learning how to drive this thing....) it was snotty out....nasty serious tightly stacked 4's in the bay...(i'm not the type to make shit up because what point will that serve) but while we were running in...the boat kept going up a wave...and coming down pounding....only the 3rd-4th time I was driving the boat....all I kept running through my head was what I was told by Lucky Lady when we sea trialed her "if this boat ever starts to pound...you're running too slow...tap the throttle up make sure the tabs are down...and you should be ok...this boat runs best at 30-34mph"...) at the time we were running at maybe 25mph....since I'm not use to it...I was hesistant at first...but said f-it...got to find out...tapped the throttles up and away she went...the pounding went down to a minimal...and we cruised it at roughly 30-32mph in a tight 4' chop....

The reason I'm saying this is from my experiance....the boat was bouncing around sure...but these boats do better going faster through the crap....and that day I found out that what I was told....was very true...I'm a younger guy...and I didn't have any problems with it....now if it were any rougher out...I don't think I could have been able to do it, sure other guys would run them in it but not me...so take it for what it is...these boats are great...their much more economical than the big express boats big sportfishers...(at least mine...I know the bigger CC's aren't) their easier to use...easier to maintain...easier to clean up...cheaper to dock/insure/gas bills...etc etc etc....easier to transport....and more importantly in todays market...easier to sell if need be...

The ride of our Contender isn't like the Albemarle...but then again it's much faster..we are using it about 1000%more...cut our costs by at least 1/2 and wouldn't trade this boat for anything!!

That's my .02 on the subject, for what it's worth...might not even be worth a penny but I wouldn't think of getting rid of our boat for anything....

Different strokes for different folks I suppose

There is a 2005 32 Regulator white hull T/300 Yamaha HPDI with only 35 hrs. Warranty til 2010 at Cape May Marine 609 884-0262. A good deal. The boat has plenty of power. Its fast enough. See the performance bulletin by Yamaha on the 32 Regulator. At 3500 RPM 31.9 mph GPH 22.2, 4000 RPM 37.8 MPH GPH 28.9 WOT 53.7 GPH 56.9 It not exactly slow. You can't use that speed most of the time anyway.

Yes sir...but only on a few occassions...because I was running the boat like a newbie....since I am to this boat....

Once the boat got to around 30 and up and the nose was into the waves the water was sprayed away from the boat not back to us...

But the way I see it is I could care less if I'm getting wet out there...I bought a CC...I didn't by a cabin cruiser....

Also if the boat is too wet you can always buy a custom made enclosure so you're good to go no worries...

I will say this...if I were out on a lot of other boats I have been on(cc's) we would have been SOAKED!!!! Or would have taken us about an extra 30-45 minutes to get abck to the dock

I would never buy a boat with the 300 HPDI's. Do a search on these motors and you will see why.

There is not a single thing wrong with 300 HPDI's any more. At 1st there was issues and just about all of the problem ones have been taken care of or completly replaced if needed.

All updates have been performed on all of the 300's it was a world wide campaign and its all better.

I have at least a dozen of them out there that have been whooped upon and fished for years and there has not been a single failure since the update was completed back in 2004. They are flawless with over 1000 hrs on them

They are tough motors for sure!

That is good to know, Mary. You would know better than me. I just remember all the hullabaloo when they went kaboom. I was unaware that the problem was worked out.

I guess my 32 with F250 turning 5k rpm and doing 35 knts @ 28.5 gph is really under powerd? Tab it down out of the hole, put it to the wood and she flops right over. Are the 350's nicer sure add 200 horsepower to anything and its gonna make it react differently. I guess it all really come down to weather you really know how to run a boat or not and how much time you have really spent on a lot of different boats to be able to make an honest call on them. SFUSA I have a bout 300 hours to many on a 28 Henriques and my opinion differs from yours. Economical as hell yes, but not one of the better sea boats I have been on . I would call it a good 3 ft boat with a snap roll.
