** NC BOAT TOWING letter Please Read**

Everyone that tows a boat in NC needs to please take the time and click on the link below. This issue affects everyone that tows a boat either now or in the future. The link is a letter that you can send to your legislators with concerns about the boat towing issues in North Carolina. You do not have to be a NC resident to express your concern.
You don’t have to compose a letter it is done for you. All you have to do is fill out your name, address, e-mail, and code that is on the screen. The letter will be sent to our legislators in Raleigh. Even if you tow a trailer that is not in question one day you might so let your voice be heard. This issue is very fluid right now and changes can be and will be made we just have to let the people that make the changes know our position. Thanks to those that have worked to put this letter and code to send the letter together. I myself have been towing boats in NC for over 20years and don’t want my right to tow my boat when I need too taken away…...Mark
Lets keep this post on the top!!

Yea, It was a state cop and he asked to measure the beam width (which was 8'6) so he couldnt give me a citatation for that. Then he started on this "class a" liscense because I have a trailer over 9500 lbs, but I didnt need the commercial part of it because I wasnt doing it for a job, only for fun. I then told him I was from Virginia he said it didnt matter because it was a federal thing. So when I got back home I looked up the "class a" which in Virginia they dont have a "non-commercial" class a liscense. So I guess they have to honor Virginias laws as well, which says I dont need a "class a" liscense for my boat.

Tunahunter1692,
Sounds like the HP that stopped you wasnt quite right. You do not need a Class A in NC unless your trailer is rated for Towing 10001 lbs or more. This is a big part of the problem!! There is no consistantcy between the different departments. The attitude seems to be write the ticket or citation and let the Judge figure out the law.Things are getting done as we speak and the more we presure our legislators the more will be done. There is a meeting on the Boat towing issue april 21st 6:00pm at the Warwick Center UNC Wilmington. WE wiould like to pack the place. All of the NC boat builders are aware of the problem and some will be at the meeting. We also hope that a few of our elected officials will attend.Everyone instate and out of state that tows should be concerend!!......Thanks everyone for your support. Mark

BTT just trying to keep this near the top. It is a very important issue. Weather you tow a 16' boat or a 36' CC this can affect you....Thanks Mark
