my electronics

I just bought a boat and am thinking about changing the electronics that are pretty old. I am new to the electronics world in fishing and maybe I should get familiarized with my existing system before I go crazy with new gear. Here is what I have.

Marinetek Seamax Fishfinder and Plotter
Furuno 1621 Radar with GP-30 antenna
Micrologic Supersport Loran Handheld

Like I said it's old but works. What do you guys recommend and could I still use some of the gear or is it best to just upgrade everything.

Thanks

Boat: 26' Sea Hunt Triton, twin 150 Yamahas
Home Port: Destin, FL & Wilmington, NC
Best Catch: the one that keeps getting away...
I'd upgrade - just my 2 cents...

I'm losing interest in Raymarine, but if you like them, they are having a trade in & sale for while: http://raymarine.com/fullyloaded

I personally like Garmin. :-)

What kind of fishing do you do?

I'd like to stay with furuno, particularly the Navnet 3D but of course I am on a bugdet and will have to settle for now, my range is around 1500. Garmin is my second choice based on the members positive feedback from other threads. I target anything that bites, right now stripers, cod, fluke and then eventually for tuna.

If you got the money to burn, and want to upgrade, go Northstar. I like there sizing options, on the 6100I and the add ons are great.

I have to agree. I've owned Garmin units for years now, and have never had a problem with them. They're easy to use, priced well below the competition, and packed with features.

I just upgraded the Lowrance that was on my boat when I bought it to the Garmin 4208. The display is absolutely stunning.
