    head sea ride only

im betting it was good in a head sea but im sure that old hatt would have been impossible to keep on a straight course in a following and quartering sea with that sharp forefoot. imho

I've got a 1977 42' Hatteras that cruises a solid 23-24 knots...not a speed demon but not a slug. Of course she was refit back in 2000 and has 450 Cummins, not the old Detroits. Great head sea boat, good beam sea boat, fair following sea boat.

yea they did but have u ever seen one on the hard the bow is very sharp and very prone to bow steering in the older models. also at the older boats didnt have the power to get the bow out the water in a big following sea. just my honest opinion based on the hatteras 45 of the same year.
