have the cameras on our boat doesn't do away with an engine room check periodically when running long distances but lets you see if anything major has happened.
we have three in the engine room and one looking over the back deck (flybridge boat). makes it a little safer when people are moving up and down.
looking good deep c

I'm looking forward to getting it to Chub for some serious whoppin of fish. If you think I was a prick for not chasing your sailfish wait til I don't chase a blue for you...
Trini...
Always good advice... No substitute for taking a hard look for yourself. The cameras are movable which is nice for various functions... I can aim them directly at suspect or trouble areas, I can set them for overview etc. They have night vision so I can set them for security on the hook or monitor pit activity while below during sword trips or overnighters...
Corian in... Took her out to shake the dust off and see what shakes loose. Blew a trim tab hose but no major issues... Boss got a look at the shit city, side current, no piling slip we are in and had me move to the good side of the ditch... This one I actually feel comfortable docking at...

I do love that old Albie... Got her in mothballs rather than sell... This vike has inspired me to give the Deep a face lift and a couple upgrades when and if I ever get some time I can call my own... Hell I am looking far into the crystal ball and a repower might be down the road and plans could include riding her into my retirement...
Crikies! This Vike job Just won't get all done... Got a smell issue when the weather gets cold? Not there when its warm? I think its holding tank seal related... Now I gotta figure out where...
The projects just seem endless. This water maker is fighting all the way in. Dirty feet on an off the boat every step of the way. The big heavy parts of the job are done and we're now into the pain in the ass stuff of routing wires and water lines. That has been an obstacle all the way along... Nothing wants to run without a fight...
All the while I'm bust with the boss, a zillion sub projects, fishing now and then, getting tackle ready and loading bit bu bit of the stuff we need for the islands...
Jeeeeziz... I'm regretting my wasted youth and shunning med school to go fishing... This watermaker thing is a bear. Two full days deep and still not quite done... Holy crap is that involved even worse on a boat that has already been built and trying to find paths for wiring and stuff!!! The wires for this 12 volt unit are heavier than most jumper cables and entire sections of breaker panel and breaker needed to be beefed to accept the draw.
About a half day more work on it and the freezer fix... Man is that intricate science in itself. Trying to adjust flows and vacumes to hit optimum performance... Just the intruments these guys use have got to cost thousands and thousands... The guys have been good about asking the right questions then listening... Would have been easy to drop a little freon and call ot fixed. A tiny bit had leaked but not really enough to cause the system to warm the way it did. Instead they found some very sensitive setting valves that needed just the tiniest adjustments... Fine tuning if you will. If they had just topped off the gas it would have certainly quit when I was in the islands and that would have been a nightmare... They are being thorough and we aim to get this girl right...
This refit seems to be nearing an end then I can get back to my projects of fixing stuff that have already started to go wrong and get the girl back sparkling shiny... The corian countertop guys cracked some of the pipes I had repaired recently so that gets priority...
