I know with yamahas if the sender in the small tank on the motor sticks it will keep pulling oil into that tank from the remote tank and it will pressure up and force feed into the motors, causing more oil burn, hence more smoke and consumption.

Have you been running carbon cleaner with your fuel??
My Merc would really smoke and carry on until I ran either QuickClean or Yamaha's Ring Free in the fuel and it cleared it right up. I prefer the Ring Free and will add extra to the fuel as a "shock" and run a tank through. Afterwards, just add the prescribed amount everytime you fuel up. It works great. The additives can be expensive, but the alternative costs alot more. |
