    Most efficient 40' + boat?

Saw a passenger ferry down in the Tortugas last week and got me thinking about making a fishing/diving boat modeled along the same lines. It was a wide displacement type catamaran. Not a planing boat by any means but a heck of a platform.

Have any of you seen something like this utilized for offshore fishing yet?

I saw a boat that was made in Chesapeake va, a long time ago called the orca, butt ugly but I think it was very very good on fuel economy. I do not know if they are still around or if they even sold any bopats.

This boat cruises/fishes near me and I've always admired its lines, simplicity. Seems with its single diesel it would be pretty effcient for its size too. I want it!

Take a look at our website.... we build custom planing cats that are very fuel efficient.

I think you are thinking of trawler type Cats. They are very popular live aboards. Very fuel efficient but they are not fast. To get good range you'll be traveling at 8 knots.

That's more along the lines of what I'm thinking. A big, wide cat with a solid platform for live aboard, gear, etc. I did wonder what max efficient speed could be, thanks!

Not exactly what I was thinking of but.... wow. Integrated hydrofoil cat. Hydrofoils kick in at 12 knots!

We havent built the 38' yet, but we project a cruise of 30knots with Yamaha 350's @ 26gph. Top end of 52-55mph.

We design all of our boats, so if you have something in mind, perhaps we could design a boat to meet your needs.

We have only built outboard powered boats thus far, but we could build a larger cat with diesels.
