Anyone have any information on these two boats? Looking to day troll the Baltimore ,Poormans and Washington and day chunk the inshore lumps off OCMD. The Bimini obviously wins out on the fuel but I'll assume the Regs cruise speed is somewhat faster.Looking at the diesel Bimini and twin 200 HPDI's on the Reg. Thanks.
You can get an Onslow bay 23T with twin 200 opti's for 79k (think) It is bigger than the 26 reg (9-6 beam) Of the two you mentioned the Reg will resale better and in the brutral weather of a quick TS I feel it will give more confidence to the boater. I'm serious though look at the Onslow bay 23T if new is what your after It's alot of boat ask on Kingfish connection or Capt. Stanman
I owned a 23 reg with twin 150's and day trolled the canyons on the nice days...no problems....regulator is a great boat...I would look at the 26 reg...it is alot more boat...good luck
B, I fished many years out of Ocean City Md aboard a 29 Topaz as you probobly know the Bimini was a Topaz, until Pat Pattesson sold it off to build bigger boats,
The 29 I was on was rock solid I did not intentionally put her in harms way but over the years it happened, I would take stable and slow over fast anyday. unless you were able to outrun the storm
the reg 23 is top in her class I also like the way an inboard troll over outboards
The Bimini 24 is a true pocket canyon battlewagon. The 24 CC is a single diesel or gas and will make the run to the Poormans or Wilmington and troll all day on less than $100. It is also a proven fish raiser. The 245EX is an express with a huge cockpit and twin diesels. It reminds Me of a baby Cabo. I have fished and run both of these boats many, many times and can testify to the solid ride. PM Me if You need some help with a Bimini or if You want to know specifics. Dan is a very good friend of Mine and He will take good care of You.
He has one (CC) on the floor now with a diesel.
Hi Im Bill , I own a 2005 Bimini Marine center console , With a cuddy cabin.
I know that a Reg is a solid boat,,, but if your looking to be able to afford long runs to the canyons,, Bimini is the best bet. my fuel burn is 5 gallon an hour at a solid 25 knots.
I have a yanmar lha-stp turbo 4 cyl 240 hp, ZF gear, straight inboard. driples shaft log, totally bonded sytem.
A typical trip from OC to the washinton canyon 500FA will burn 45 gallons round trip.
My Brother is the builder and i guess im partial , but im so lucky to own one of these Battlewagon.. Itll eat up the slop pretty good and Whitey and tunas just love the hum of a diesel.
Trollin offshore is great with the clean transom, lotsa room to fight a fish.
Dan will build a custom for you, or like was said there is a 2009 Bimini Center palm beach edition with the new BY series Yanmar in OC now, That boat will cruise at 30 knots alllll day.
There is another model, sport express 245 with twin diesel,, that boat is real nice.
You may want to call dan and take a ride on the center in OC right now. Heres Dans phone #410-726-5108.
Dan builds these boats out of a passion for sportfishing in Bishopville MD,, good thing he doesnt do it for a living,, with whats going on in the boating world,,but for anyone to not look seriously with fuel prices being what they are and can be is just missing out.
For a center console 24.4 long and a tough as this boat is,, there is no other boat in its class that has the better performance numbers. unless you just want to go fast.
Another thing,, single diesel is very dependable offshore, most of the fleet out of OI was or is single diesel.
Oh and never look back,, forget the Ethanol monster.
also these engines have been know to clock 10,000 hours
If your around annapolis call me , Ill take you for a ride,, till june, thats when i run mine throught the C&D headin for OC.
Bill
