    Miami attendance jumps 14 percent
    Posted on February 22, 2011

Attendance was up 14 percent at the 2011 Miami International Boat Show, which closed Monday.

The National Marine Manufacturers Association, which produces the show, reported 104,168 attendees this year, versus 91,415 in 2010.

Strictly Sail Miami, however, was down 8 percent compared with 2009 - the last time it was held as a stand-alone show. A total of 18,122 people attended Strictly Sail, versus 19,723 two years ago.

"The atmosphere throughout the five-day event was positive, and exhibitors from both shows reported strong buying crowds and increased sales," the NMMA said.

my wife, my kids, my practice.

    Mary...

I always appreciate the effort you put in here. For the most part I hope boat builders sell a bunch of boats. There is one manufacturer I hope sells less than the cost of the booth.....or none, whichever is less. If that occurs it only means that Contender will sell more boats

Too bad I don't live closer to Fla, as the big yellow sign in the back of my truck would drive sales to you and away from someone else. Just some fun food for thought. Ok you can stop grinning now!

my wife and I both agreed it was the highlight of our trip.
we spent 1 week in Miami, went to key west ( boring )

got sunburned, spent money at the show
    life is great.

Planned to make it an annual event.

I have always enjoyed the Miami show there is always TONS of neat stuff there, and the tents out back are always full of goodies. The show is layed out well where you don't feel the crowds as much.. Great show all around .. plus I love the miami night life

Attendance was UP? Not where I was standing! A friend of mine just read a report stating it was down 26% which fits more with what I witnessed. Last year the bartender in the BGR was overrun, this year he was asleep.....

Saw the WC booth, no diesel boats for sale there for some reason.....

What on earth would possess World Cat in leaving at home their most famous boat model (the diesel HTS and SX) they ever produced? What are they thinking? No wonder their sales are in the bilge! This is their legacy! The boat that falls apart before reaching 200 hours of run time. My, OH my! What a shame they forgot the "Fighting Yellow" or dare I say "Lemon Yellow" diesel back at the shop! I am sure they had disappointed people who were looking for the famous World Cat Lemon! LMAO

I did talk them up at the Seattle Boat Show this year. It will make a difference in boat sales for them probably

I agree with BahamaLure!! Attendance was WAY down! At some times you could bowl down the aisles in the big game room and not hit a single person.

    Agreed

The show producers must be playing with the numbers b/c it was dead Thursday, sat and Sunday from where I was looking....BGR was really sad....the displays were more impressive than before.

I would have to guess the numbers are based of ticket purchases. I know a few boat builders dis stop well at the Ft Lauderdale boat show. You can't base too much on actual foot traffic upstairs report is primarily based around the boats. The boat people said it was well for them.
All and all I'm curious to see how things play out. If its not based on ticket sales it maybe be related to the strictly sale part and the main floor.
