Mercury Warranty

Attention all Mercury owners, today I learned that my warranty was cancel by mercury because I had the boat listed on my charter boat web site. No mater that I have run no charters on the boat they said that it was consider commercial and the warranty was voided. But if I was on there program it was ok to do it, I use to be on the program and have only owned nothing but mercurys all my life, what am I supose to do, I was going to repower with a set of 300 verados but now I've got a bad taste in my mouth.

Mercury has had the commercial policy for years, although it has not been fully enforced. Most of the time its a dealer that enforces it or reports it. When the dealer warranty registers the engine it is classified as recreational or commercial.

To me it sounds as if someone made a courtesy call to Mercury to inform them of its intended use

eff them. I had a drive go up very shortly after warranty expired to the tune of 6K repair and only had under 200hrs on an Opti xs 250. They stuck it to me b/c I wasn't "original purchaser and a repeat customer for them". I flipped my lid. Buy with caution... it is a big purchase.

merc. will never be on the back of any of the boats I ever own or repower agin! (hope Gus can read and see this!) they take care of the 'ones' they want to and screw the rest. o far on a set of engines on the back of my wifes boat <<<~~~ yes my wife even has her own boat! we stuck 4,600.00 bucks into fixing crap that was supposed to be under warrantee! this even includes having to change over the complete binical control unit and platnum cables to gen II cables... her engines have NO merc stickers on them anymore ... but if you go to merc net.com thing you will see where they warranteed the fuel pump finally... BUY E-TEC, OR YAMA!! SORRY FOR NOTHING MERCURY THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU DO THIS KIND OF BIZ.!!! I HAVE BY-PASSED YOU ON 6 SETS OF ENGINES TO DATE RIGHT NOW BECAUSE NOT EVEN A PHONE CALL WAS MADE BACK TO US!!! YA KNOW THAT HURTS PEOPLE THE WAY YOU DO BIZ. ....AND KEEPS THEM FROM BEING ON THE WATER! REPOWERING NOW WITH A SET OF YAMAS ON A GRADY.. JUST ANOTHER 30K YOU WILL NEVER SEE... and she wasn't commercial she just loves to dive... and be able to come back home on her own power for the 27k she invested... PS: there are LOTS of commercial merc charter captains in south florida so where is that line of who is special and who is not?
