I had to replace the impeller on my Merc 90 and I'm having a tough time lining up the splines on the shift rod and the lower unit. I thought it was done and bolted it all back together. It wouldn't go in gear. I looked and saw that I had cracked the case where the spline collar sits and can't get the 2 shafts to line up. The local Merc shop is busy and can't get me in for 4 weeks. Any suggestions how to line this up would be appreciated, the dealer said the part that I cracked isn't critical. I need to fix this and get the parts lined up.
