    Mercury 150 EFi question

A buddy of mine just bought a 1998 150 Mercury EFI motor. The motor was on a bass boat that never got used so its only has about 25 hrs on it. The electric fuel pump wasn't working so we took it off and he ordered a new one. In looking for this fuel pump it seemed that Mercury changed fuel pumps part #'s. Does anybody know if Mercury had a lot of problems with their fuel pumps on these motors or if these motors had any other issues?

Yes they did change the part #s a lot of the fuel pumps and there was a few problems. I do believe it was part of recall but I could be wrong the part numbers on any make always superceed a couple times. Just make sure you get the latest and greatest pump , if you have a part # to send me I could check it out a little further

Thanks Mary. He has already ordered one. I was just wondering if these motors had any real issues or if they were pretty reliable.

For the most part, they have been ok with little problems. Once the pump is replaced, you should be ok but she will drink some oil.
