You can still buy loran's on e-bay. Who knows when they will actually shut it down, but I believe it will be sooner than you think. I tried plugging loran #'s in to my Furuno Nav Net and it could be as far off as 1/4 mile. I had both loran and gps in my boat and I would run down loran #'s with the loran and hit the mob on the gps when I arrived. It took 4 about years to convert maybe 75 to 100 #'s.
If his #'s are in No. Fl. just send them to me and I will run them down for ya
Good Luck

Several of the gps units out there can be set to read and readout in "TD" form that was used by loran c... I'm sure if you play with enough buttons you can convert them...
I read someplace that there was a program or even site that you could do it on a computer but have no further info...
Divers numbers are gold and should be kept close secret... Heck of a nice thing he doid for you.

You'll probably find that his number's won't be "dead on". But with that kind of wealth of number's (by someone who's been down there and seen it for themselve's), it would pay to work the area to find the spot he has recorded. If your using a WAAS system GPS your new co-ordinates will be good as gold. Frank

Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
By adjusting the ASF in your unit, if it allows, you can get the loran numbers pretty close. Close enough to find wrecks etc. It will work even if Loran goes away. It is easy in my Raymarine units.

If you are serious about finding these Loran spots gifted to you, IMO, you should pick up a Loran and do what rahomes had suggested. Running your gps in Phantom Loran mode will not be accurate enough to find the smaller wrecks which can be great fishing spots. Mr. Obama just cannot wait to throw the "off" switch for the Loran signal the end of Fiscal year 2009 which translates to the end of September of this year. He has made it abundantly clear that this will happen without fail. Google up "Loran Status" and you can confirm what I am saying. So now is the time to get out and run down all of your old Loran hang numbers. It is time consuming, but if you are into wreck fishing, definitely worth the effort.
