Looking to buy a fishfinder/Gps for offshore any ideas.

Trying to decide on a combo for around $600 or $700. I've already owned a lowrance and hummingbird in which they have alot to choose from in that range. Any help would be great!

Be sure to check out the Raymarine A 57D. Great FF, Excellent Plotter, and it is waterproof and in your price range.

I can't speak for the Raymarine model you reference but having owned a boat with Raymarine gear 2007-09 and now a different rig with Furuno gear I will offer my $0.02.

Raymarine HD Fishfinding is hands down the best I've seen. I have not yet seen the Furuno V3, but display on the V2 is not as nice...and my new rig has a NICE TRANSDUCER. That said, I liked Raymarine's charting capabilities but noticed that the track was not as true as what my Furuno shows...not sure if that is a product of the unit or settings on how often it hits the satellite, but Furuno is better in this area..ie, the track seems to better mark where I have trolled or searched, especially on turns.

Candidly, for your budget and presumably for a better fishfinder setup, go Raymarine. You didn't say what your transducer budget is, but depending on depth get the 1KW. With zoom on the Raymarine, I could see the crabs crawling. A good 600 kw will work fine to 150'.

Whatever you do, I highly suggest the software that goes with either...on my Raymarine and Furuno, I use their software to manage waypoints and upload them to my unit. Amazing what you can plot and learn seeing it on your downtime and on a bigger screen.

    Again, my $0.02
