listing of Builders that use a jig
Does anyone know of builders that use a jig to build a 43-52' custom sportfish including the house and flybridge?
I am considering replacing my house and flybridge on one of my boats since I dont like the shape. I wanted to price getting a new house and flybridge built. I have already talked to some architects that sell jigs, but also wanted to compare pricing on just having a new hourse/flybridge built by someone with a jig that does this as a normal course of business and shipped to my boat. For what it's worth, if you're not happy with it then I suggest you have it built from scratch.
I wouldn't think anyone elses house design would work as well as having an architect lay it out on paper so you end up with something that you're happy with. Plus you can make mock up sections cheap enough so you can see the lines of the design. |

I am in the same boat, redoing a 42" foot hull hated the shape of the upper structure, cut it out and had a crane lift it off and take it away on saturday, have been looking for a salvage-totaled boat I can cut the upper section off and glass it to my hull, want a modernd rounded look, but I will probably end up building it myself, plan io building a jig off the existing hull and build it indoors,

Jim Smith, but with a very older look with angles, and I like curves. I want something more modern and rounded.
Fortunate one - Not so easy to do in the part of the world where the boat is. They definitely have the skill to accomplish the task, but not the experience that comes with a builder that does this stuff and has done it many times. I believe it will be much easier to cut out and lift off what is there and drop another down and glass in as discussed by the other guy. I want a foam cored house and flybridge, and the best way to get it is to build on a jig. A one time use jig that I would have CNC made is pretty pricey, and I would rather cut a deal with a existing builder (know skills and product) rather than rolling the dice on a house designed for my boat, but built by a group with lesser skills. Lee - I have called them, but I will bet they are so busy building complete boats they will not have time for a small job like this, but I am willing ask.
Thanks BrianB |
