the saying "never fall in love with a stock" should be applied to boats. No one gives a sheet that u grew up on the boat, or its cape may history. They (boat market) only cares about doing 33kts cruise with all the latest gadgets. If u can restore without getting in too deep ok, but if not, it is not good if u are the only one in love with her. she is pretty though, good luck

Take good care of her and share the memories with your friends and family. Someday when you are gone, you and the boat will "live on" with them.
boats have no soul, and if u think otherwise u are either a fool or dillusional, a boat doesn't give a ratts ass if u live or die, u could love a boat everyday, but it cant nor wont love u back.
they are selfish whores who just eat...eat....eat.....eat......

Buddy, you obviosuly have issues. I didn't buy the boat cause I gave a sheet about the boat market. I will save some heavy duty sand paper and a grinder for you though as you are going to need it to get that giant chip off your shoulder. I could get real nasty and down in the gutter with ya, but I think your post speaks volumes about you and that is not needed. Thanks for wishing me luck though. Have a great day.

Thumbs up

I say hell-yeah, nice boat and great story....
I to recently found the boat I grew-up on, my dads 1972 31' Bertram, he sold in @1985(?), it's still in OCMD but really-really beat-down and in bad shape, imho....it's not for sale (yet) but should it ever come-up for sale, I'd have to think real hard for a reason NOT to buy it....btw dad's old 31' Bertram, the "Marauder" is now called "Santa Maria" and is owned by a guy named George, as I saw him wth the boat last winter in the parking lot at Sunset

Allow me to apologise, I did not realize you were a boat broker. But you are apparrently not a very good one. Why would you offer a market opinion if you did not know what I paid, what the rehab costs were, and what a restored boat such as this can bring? Let's just set aside the memories, the renewed family bonds that will surely occur as a result of the purchase, and the other pleasures that come along with this decision. There are more important things then money you know. Let's just look at it as a business decision as you attempted to do [I suspect you are a young guy in your early 30's making real money for the first time in your life]. Why would you make such a blanket opionion not knowing all the variables? Maybe its just inexperience or maybe its just ego exercising itself. Either way, I hope you find something more important someday than your bank statement and stock portfolio, but by that time it might be too late.

BTW- The flounder comment was cute, but not very creative. You should have skipped one of those finance classes and taken creative writing.

Thanks for the comments. One of the great things about this community is being able to share this kind of stuff with so many people that share similar passions.
