That is a great story and even better a fine looking boat.

Good luck with the restoration. I'll be looking forward to the pictures.

If you repower you'll need to give that a lot of thought especially with the speed and lightweight of today’s diesels.

You'll want to make sure her classic ride doesn't change.

I've seen someone repower a boat and he decided to up the HP and shed some weight. It didn't work out as well as he expected. It actually made the boat squirrelly.

I had one in the early eighties... 1956 lay up on her. Loads and loads of work getting her ight and keeping her that way. Mine was pretty slow but we did a season in Chub then classic Bimini/ Cat Vay tuna fishing with her. Doubled my money selling her... Good luck with her...

My grandfather told me that was considered a 'pompano pounder'...

we had a 18'beam guthrie 48' sportfish.. #slow and you needed to learn how to flip the drive shafts of a 6-53 tank engine blower over ... but long ago I caught more wahoos in - route to everywhere on lures I made. I sure would like to see some wahoos on that rig even old style slow 9 knot fishing... you could even drink a beer ... good on ya if you get and keep her. Hell I am the same year model

She's a beauty Fritz, and by the passion in your posts, she's going to be quite the rig when all is said and done. Nothing like a boat that you can jump on and feel the soul Like others have said, congrats, and keep us updated!

What price can you put on a memory? I'm very happy for you and glad you bought the old girl.

There has only been one boat I was associated with that I felt had a soul and she burned in the early 1980's. To this day I will swear the boat could "talk" to you and she never failed to bring us home.

Take good care of her and share the memories with your friends and family. Someday when you are gone, you and the boat will "live on" with them.

Fritz,
When you say you are going to replace the artwok, does that mean that you will have the transom painted white with the fishing little green man?
