Boat: 35' Wellcraft TE Trip250 E-TEC
Home Port: Port Royal Landing Marina
Best Catch: Blue Marlin
Occupation: Equipment Rental Company
Deep Defiance, we run the new wellcraft with trip 250 E-tecs and love it. I still have my 1979 302 scarab and am still amazed at how she takes a head sea, but in a following sea she will hurt your feelings if you aren't carefull. The pair of 250 E-tecs cruises her at 40knots at 4000rpm, not bad for a 29year old hull.

Thumbs up Team OldSchool.

29years old with new power to boot I know there are A lot of late 70's and early 80's scarabs around,I just dont think other people realize that when these things are refurbished they look like they just came off the showroom floor most people wouldnt even believe the ages of these things!especialy with newer power.LETS see how many fountains are around in 29 years.lol I do know what you mean in A following sea though!

Like I told Mike, if it's flat the Fountain will win.

But NOAA is calling for 3-5+ seas, it's going to be a dogfight between Yellowfin and Invincible. I don't think Fountain has the ride that either of those boats have. I truly believe that YF and Inv are the best riding boats in the business right now, with the nod (obviously ) going to Invincible IMO.

It should be fun.

Deep Defiance, what do have against Fountain? Have you ever ridden on or driven a 38 TE?

The seas being rough is in no one's favor. Fountain has nothing to prove. I feel sorry for the other captains trying to prove they are faster than another manufacturer in rough water. Hopefully no one will get hurt if its rough. There is a difference between having bragging rights on the line vs. having $, livelyhood, and reputation on the line.

I have heard that a boat manufacturer owner said that he would either win or put the boat on the bottom. Now that is a scary thought.

Post I have nothing against fountain!

In fact I have quite A few friends who run them.If fountain doesnt have anything to prove then why is it they ran there 38te and established the record for being the fastest fishing platform on the water.Or for hireing A helicopter to film the 38te circleing those other boats in the Key west(to put in there promo ad)?I would at one time have died to be in A fountain but now I would be asshamed to own one!Because of what they did and how they acted.

Fountain has nothing to prove b/c they already proved they are the fastest. Fountain did not hire a helicoptor for the footage in Key West. Mercury hired the helicoptor to capture footage of the new 350 Verados in action. The footage from that video is no where on Fountains site. It is on Mercurys.

I will admit that the driver of the Fountain got a little bit hasty, but you can in no way blame a boat manufacturer for the way there customers drive there boats. Its not like Reggie Fountain was driving the boat.

Look, if you want to hate on Fountains then you are entitled to your opinion. But don't hate a boat company b/c of the way one of there customers drove a boat around his peers teasing them b/c he was playing with the new toy on the block. (The new toy being the 350 verados from Mercury)

Chris
