    LED Nav Lights

I have flush mounted nav lights in my hardtop on a Viking. I would like to convert them to LED. Does anyone know if some company makes a drop in LED replacement for the original bulbs that are in there?

    Thanks.

    LED thoughts!!!....

First off guys get your lights out in the open! running lights are for people to see (and it also provides saftey for you and your crew coming home.) if you get a chance get away from your boat on a dark night and see if you can see your boat at night. these shark hull lights and stuff that is mounted behind rails and such is not cool. when you do go leds also remember candle power of the buld is how brite ??? hella makes great leds that stay dry also. just make sure people can see you. Please!

The old festoon bulbs sucked. I was always hanging on the side of the boat at night cleaning the bulb tips from corrosion.

I installed the Perko LED nav lights on my boat 5 years ago when they first came out (Hella NaviLeds were not available yet). LED's are directional (ie. very bright straight on, but not to the sides of the bulbs), my model actually has about 6 LED's in each unit pointing in all different directions and are easily twice as bright as the old festoon model sidelights I had (they were also Perko's installed by the factory).

There are more brands available on the market today, make sure they meet the proper USCG visual distances for your size boat and not some home made job (do that with the cockpit and bridge lighting if you are a DIY'er, but not your Navigation lights)

I had them on my old boat in shark eye style light and they were bright as hell!!

If you search through their site you can find a LED bulb for almost any fixture.

We sell the LED fixtures Viking uses in their hardtops. If you are able to replace the whole fixture let me know and I can get you some.

Do you have any pictures? I've seen the Viking lights and would love to put similar ones on my hardtop.
