LED Lighting

I am looking to make some upgrades to the Albemarle this year. One of them is some LED accent lighting in the cockpit, under the hardtop at the helm, and maybe tower. Looking for red LEDS in the cockpit and helm for nighttime running and blue for the tower.

Has anyone done this?

How are they installing the underwater lights? Just a drill through the hull and seal with silicone?

I would never think of selt-tapping them. I'll thru-bolt them with SS hardware and nylon lockers on the back.

Unless of course i am wrong, then by ALL MEANS correct me. That's the last thing i need is my rig ending up a fish habitat because of lights.

Is that 3m 5200 sealant?

I've installed these on my flybridge and will be installing more in the cockpit (overhang and under the coaming pads) this spring. IMO...DRSA has one of the best selections and quality products on the market. You can have seven different colors by using the LED driver..... check it out.....

I installed 2 of the coastal underwater lights on my boat. All you need is a 1/4 inch hole for the wire. I didn't screw them to the hull and just used 3M 4200. When I went to replace one this year, I had to absolutely destroy it using a putty knife and hammer. I can only imagine if I used 5200. Nice product for the money and good customer service. Also, the second generation lights are nuch improved from the first generation solid unit instead of sealed with air inside (my first set leaked).

Just installed my 2 double square greens. Easy install if you don't mind using a drill on your hull. Got the blue leds for the cockpit, yet to install, but the underwater lights are bright.

Can't wait till this weekend to see how they look in the water.
