I think Admin is going to let me have this space
Shortfin,
You said a mouthful there Capt. "There are 2 servicing dealer's in New England". That covers alot of area doesn't it? If an engine "crap's the bed" in the heat of the season and you only have 2 servicing dealer's in New England, that doesn't sound real promising to me. Unless one of them happen's to be in your backyard. Like Deep said you'd be very well advised to check this one out. People pick up and drop dealerships on a regular basis. How long have they been dealer's, do they stock part's for you serie's of engine's, how available are they unusual part's. Make a fictisious part's inquiry, like you were gonna order for a breakdown. Get real creative (turbo, heat exchanger core, aftercooler core, injection pump, exhaust manifold, etc...) see how long it'll take for you to have part's in hand. I've seen a Yanmar customer (brand new boat) sit for 3 weeks on 2 occasion's because they didn't stock a particular spring on this side of the pond. I'm not knocking Yanmar here ,I do alot of work on their stuff and for the most part they do OK. Same thing with normal stuff like turbocharger's and turbo part's, "I'm sorry sir we don't stock those part's", but we'll be glad to order them for you. With the economy slowing down, most are not stocking the part's they used to. They order them as needed and you'll have to wait for them to get there. Fact's of life. Frank,SeaPower

Iveco Diesels
Besides the service/parts issues, your friend better get the boat at a bargin price else they are going to take a beating on it's resale. Alot of people have never heard of Iveco Diesels and they are going to shy alway from the boat because of it. Personally they seem to be good engines, but service, part and resales are issues to consider.

Those are good motors Chris. That is what is in the "Ty One On" and I have just over 2000 on it now and only had to do the heat exchanger last year. That is not even really related to Yanmar even. I get 8 gals./hr. @ 2800 and maybe 10 hr. @ 3000 rpm.

30' class boat
Just wondering what happened to the 30' boat? Everything I know about the Iveco diesels is very good. The cat blocks are made from Iveco so 80% of a cat marine diesel is Iveco. I think they have 24 vavles and seem to run a little cleaner and aren't as loud as the cats. There is also some differences in the cooling. Not 100% sure on that but know that they use them in a lot of box trucks and have very good luck with them. Didn't know if that was in an Albemarle in North Carolina?

I thought it was the same boat. I just got back from looking at that boat. Real nice. The boat runs like a top! Did he buy an Albemarle? Did he get a good report from it? Just wondering because I might be buying it and any info he got would be helpful!
