Question Installing electronics

I have a 24' Grady white offshore.
Want to buy and install a Lowrance 28c GPS, depth sounder combo.
Unit comes with a 50/200 skimmer transducer and Gps antenna.
Ok, I'm good so far.

Talked to a local marina and he said a skimmer is better than a thru hull when dealing with a older boat due to difficulty in installing and positioning a thru hull transducer.
Ok, No flat spots to mount transducer. V'd all the way back.
Any sugestions on mounting a skimmer transducer ?

Thanks for any and all help.

Joe.

hey joe...here's a pic of the smae 'ducer,it's installed on a deep v hulled rig...your rig is a modified v hull, much less dead rise than this one....follow what you see here...use 3m 5200 sealer on the screws, don't use anything else...

Thanks Jim. Am I right in assuming the ducer is on the port side ? Looks to be flat to the water.

really doesn't matter which side you mount it...you want the 'ducer parallel with the keel...

if you have a lift strake....move to the right or left. That will keep clean water (without as much air) flowing pass the ducer. Good lucks on the install.

YOU CAN DOIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thumbs up Thanks.

Jimmy, thank you for the advice and pics.
Saved me $350.00 and a few more days at the mechanics.
Flat I can and did.

One thing pisses me off tho.
Ran a new feed to the dash. Nice, 12 g marine wire.
12.5 volts at the batteries and 12.5 at the dash.
Hooked in a switch to turn the power block off.
Installed fuses and hooked up the gps sonar unit.
Checkin with a meter all the way.

Damn thing still wont come on.
It requires 2 power feeds. 1 for the unit and one for the network.
OK back to the meter.
voltage readings thru the fuses.
Network feed 12.5 volts.
Power feed 8.5 volts. Whered it go ?
The damn fuse was eatin 4 volts.
New fuse all is well.

Gonna go close her up now and put her back in tomorrow.
Can't wait to try this unit out.
