    If I built a boat,

I think about it everyday. My mind is so busy trying to sort through all the crap that goes in my brain.......I wake up, I already have a question for myself.
I love the 37 merritt, 36 cubavich, 36 rybovich..........but I really dont want the constant work and maintenance a boat like that requires. Plus, lets admit it.........50 year old technology. I want to fish in North Carolina, not Costa Rica. It aint flat every day. I also believe the answer isnt just.....go bigger! That seems to be the answer for alot of guys. "Your boat isnt big enough"
Why doesnt anyone except Ocean offer a day boat design? Not everyone wants an express.........
See, maybe Im different. I dont think the key to happiness is a bigger boat. I want to revisit youth. I want the old ideas, with new technology. Am I the only one?

Simply put, Why is there no market or builder for a 38 ft day boat? With a beam thats not 10'6". Im starting to get pissed off.

    Hubris,
that's why I bought a 1973 35 Bertram and refurbed it to my liking. It's a tank that will take what you give it and hauls *** with the QSB 380 Cummins under the hood while being easy on the fuel.

But I feel your pain, with all of the "bigger" boats on the market you would think there would be a market for the mid size sport fisher. I guess the manufactures think that you are either really rich or really poor !

I take pride in knowing that my old boat was once a well sought after ride ! and I enjoy taking the rich folks discards and making them new again !

    Alex,

Hate to spoil it for ya, but you're not the only one that think's that way. Everything I've got is "old", well according to some. Boat's are a piece of equipment that's made to be functional, that's it. All the stuff that get's added on past the basic's make them dis-functional. Boat's are made to be owned by the guy's running them, not the other way around. I have been quietly looking for a bigger boat for the last little bit. Now mind you a bigger boat to me is around 35 foot and yes I am looking at only "old" boat's. My commercial day's taught me that simple is good. I'm with you on this one. Frank
