how wide should a slip be

My Marina just changed around the slip I was in and repositioned the poles. My boat has a 14 ft 10 inch beam, How wide should the front poles be? We are on floating docks. I measured and they were 14 ft 6 in across I had to back in on an angle then straighten out . There is a small sailboat next to me so it did give some room to play with. I'm thinking my slip should be no narrower the 16.

The previous slip I was in was 40' x 16' - My current slip is 45' x 18' - My boat is 13'10" wide...

I like em tight... No slop in a storm to build up momentum and do damage when slamming in there in a big storm. A little rub I can live with. A hard hit sucks...
