How Much Would You Pay For Cosmetic Maintenance?

I am being asked to wax a few boats. Mainly they are 30'+ Center Consoles. My only problem is, I have no idea how much I should ask for. Neither total job or an hourly rate.

What do you guys think? How much should be charged on an hourly base? Should supplies be included? The price of the wax is pretty expensive. Especially Woody.

Our 31 is done a couple times a year... They charge flat rate of $600 and yes they supply the materials... A problem that you may face is having to shell out for the base equipment (buffers, extension cords, bulk compound+ wax, etc) to get started. See they do this professionally on lots of boats so the cost of that start up is defrayed over a broad area...

make sure you know what they have for coatings!

you do not buff sterling, awlgrip, or alex seal if you do you take the shine right off of it and open up the layers to weather and the paint job is done.
gel coat is a waxable and you also have to be real careful not to burn it or just take it down too far.
depends on your time and material basically.. if you do a great job ask a fair price and good luck

Thanks for your input. I am 19, so its not like a full business. Its more like I am just saving them from two or three days of work. I will ask them to supply the materials. I do have a wal-mart buffer though. When they ask me how much it would cost, I really have no idea what to say. This is my list of possible clients and what I have came up with figure wise.

    34' Venture. $450
    33' Grady Express. $650
28' Pro Kat (Inside Only, bilge scrubbing included) $350
    28' Grady Express. $400
    30' Luhrs. $550

    How do these prices sound?

In addition, which products would you recommend if they choose not to mess with it.

woody wax is no good, use collonite, or a lot of elbow grease.Woody is not industrial quality, I dont think anyone in the detailing business uses it

Just had mine done for $18/ft and that was a special. I think most people in SE NC are charging $25/ft or so.

I like Woody for my nonskid....just spray it on a brush, brush down the deck then hose it off. Makes clean up a lot easier. A paste for all the smooth surfaces though.

So this is a sketch up of a little flier I wanted to pass out to some neighbors. Of course this is not the final product. It is nothing like I had in mind but this is what it came out to be. I think it's cute but I was wondering if I could get an opinion from the members of SF. Let me know about the name, motto, picture or even the layout. Whatever would appeal it most to you (the customer)!!

Also, if anyone in Ocean City MD is reading this, feel free to contact me! I'd love your business ha.

They sound a bit high. I get my 32 express professionally done in the spring for $650. They send 4 guys and all the tools and materials and do a bang up job.

Sometimes I will get a spruce up by the 20 something guys in the neighborhood. I pay 'em $20 an hour and supply the materials
