Sitting on land with the motor dead cold I get an alarm that won't go away. I have unpluged the temp sensors, low oil sensor, pulled the purple wires off at the block, and checked the float in the VRO and the alarm still stays on. This is even before I turn her over. Where do I start on this one. I also found the fuel cut off switch only half open. Didn't know it had one. The only thing the shuts it off is by pulling the tan wire at the buzzer.
H E L P ! I dont want to run her without the alarm. I was up till 1:30 last night reading and pulling wires to no avail.
If you unhooked both temp senders off the cylinder heads, unplugged the oil tank wires, and took the tan wire off the vaccum switch (if it has one) then chances are its a bad horn. It could be in the wire harness but we only see one every few years. I would be shorted horn. The fuel switch being half closed may be why the engine cuts down to 2500 RPM. If the vaccum switch sees a problem at high rpm (fuel restriction) it will turn on SLOW.
Today was a disaster. I Took her out and didn't get 20 min into the ride and she started having problems. She sputtered and then died. It would start right back up, run for a few seconds and then cut of again, Over and over. This time I had my father with me to drive so I could troubleshoot the problems. NO prime in the prime bulb ! Pumping the prime ball worked for a while but I think it finally took a dump! Ran the battery dead trying to get her started. I hailed down a boat nearby and was towed back to Augisten Beach. So I guess I'm looking at a new fuel pump. Is there anything else I should look at?
Sine you just had it serviced, I would take it back. Even if it has nothing to do with the orginal problem they should help you out since it was just there.
I am gonna send this link to my brother-in-law who has been working on Evinrude & Johnson's for over 30 years. He has been a factory tech for almost 20. Yes all the company's OMC, Evin. & John, and now Bombardier. He loves this stuff.

I have looked all over the Inet and can't find any rebuild kit for my fuel/VRO Pump. I ordered a kit off the net and they sent me a water pump kit. It was only 42.00 with shipping so I will keep it but I still need the fuel/VRO pump kit. The model of my outboard is E120TLOCS-----G1026147 E--------------Evinrude

Any Help Please ! ! !

Thanks again for the info. I will take the VRO pump kit from you, Part # 5004559. I will call you tomorrow to give payment. Dont want any trouble in the future so I'm going to upgrade to the 4 wire VRO. I get to work arround 8:00 so shortly after I will get up with you on the part. Thanks again
Just finished installing my new 4 wire VRO/Fuel pump that I bought from BARNICAL BILLS. It went very good as it was pretty cut and dry. I now have a alarm on the pump itself. Pumped up the prime ball and retested it after 15 min, Still Hard Yaaaahhh Hoooo. I will be testing it tomorrow (SAT) arround lunch. W I S H M E L U C K ! !
