I called Ceader Creek Marina ,who had the best price, and they said they had 8 coils and 2 power packs. I heard that you Flatbottom go out of ceader creek sometimes. I have never been there myself. With gas prices so high, how far is it from here? They said if I order the parts on tue by noon they will be in at ceader creek on Wed, then shipped to me on Thursday. It will take at least 3 days to get to me. Saturday if not Mon. They close at 5 pm 7 days a week which will almost be impossable for me to get to when I only get off at 4:30pm. What is the Time and distance to Ceader Creek? I may have to take a half a day on Friday to get down there.
from here take rt#1. go past dover airbase....and it is about 20 min past the airbase doing 55. look for rt #36 on your right. rt #36 is the slaughters beach exit. Turn left at the exit stop sign. Follow #36 all the way back to the bay and cross over the draw bridge. Go about 1000 feet more and ceder creek is the big beige building on your left. That is the rack storage building and parking is out front. The flatties are waiting for you about 6 miles se of the inlet in 24 feet of water.....LOL
I swapped coils and wires on two different cyl. ( the one with the oil comming out of the plug socket and one form the other side of the outboard )to see if the Problem moved and to eliminate the power pack. If the problem moved it would have been the coil or plug wire but the problem did not move. This time I got the outboard to miss on dry land at 3000RPM'S THE WHOLE OUTBOARD WOULD SPUTTER

Somthing like that. I hope you get the picture. The whole outboard would quit for a split sec. and then keep going. Very quick and sudden. A'm I down to the power pack? What do you think Jawz12?
i thought i heard a outboard running to day....rrrr-blah.......rrrrblablah....cough....sputtttt over top of the noise from cutting grass.......LOL ...was thay you
I'm trying to get this thing licked. I want desperatly to go out and fish with my son but I dont want to venture out too far as I might not make it back. HA. HA.
That sounds great! Unless I hear from Jawz12, I'm Going to order this part tomorrow, and depending on how fast it gets here, I hope to be in the water by Saturday. Sea trial on Friday. I don't know what the weather is going to be like this weekend but I'm ready!
I have narrowed it down to three most likely electrical parts. The slator, the trigger, or the switch box/powerpack. I'm getting a little in over my head on what I can do, and without having the ability or knowledge to test each electrical part I would only be throwing parts at it at this time. I have eliminated a lot of things and narrowed it down. Now it's time for a pro. I dropped it off today to get it fixed. Thank you everyone for all your help, expecially Jawz12 for trying to give me the info to do it myself. I think it's the slator. Any guesses?
Stator- I had a problem with my V-6 stator. I had full range throttle, but it seemed to surge at top end. When the dealer checked, the spark was off/weak and also found wires were worn and was making intermittent firing of one cylinder. Had stator replaced and hasn't missed a beat!
Only thing that seemed different from yours was ths dying out at top end- like I said, mine just surged. I would think that if one cylinder failed, you would just lose top end RPM and it would be sluggish.
