Help please - Evinrude 70HP Motor

I just purchased a Evinrude 1980 70HP Outboard Model# E70ELCSA. The owner said he used just gasoline. This didn't seem correct. Is there a gas oil mixture needed for this motor or is it just gasoline? If so what is the mixture? Thanks in advance for the help. Good Fishin / Boating.

Oil must be mixed with this engine

I own a 1980 70 HP Evinrude. This is one of the toughest little engines I have ever used. It definitely uses 1 oz oil to 1 gal 87 octane gasoline. Surely the guy miss spoke or you misunderstood because gasoline alone will cause this engine to seize up after only a few tank fulls.

The 80 engine was not oil injected. It had a 50 to 1 oil mix ratio. The old number of 16 oz per 6 gal is what everyone did back then

Yep, second the 50 to 1 mix.
