    Glacier Bay unveils sales promotion

    Posted on February 03, 2011

Glacier Bay recently announced a customer loyalty program that awards new boat buyers as much as $10,000 in savings if they purchase a new Glacier Bay 26- or 27-foot model before Feb. 28.

"Our owners are repeat customers and, given their loyalty to Glacier Bay over the past two years, we wanted to give something back," said Andrew Brown, president of Glacier Bay and the PowerCat Group, in a statement. "Our loyal customer base is the reason Glacier Bay is strong and we have been able to make a smooth transition to manufacturing Glacier Bay catamarans in North Carolina."

The customer loyalty event is available only through authorized Glacier Bay dealers participating in the program and is applicable to new 2011 models.

Customers also are being offered an opportunity to sea-trial the new 2740 Glacier Bay at the Miami International Boat Show. If they buy a new boat at the show, they will receive travel credits for their trip.

Customers must take delivery of their new boat by June 30 to qualify for the savings and travel incentives.

my wife, my kids, my practice.

    I wonder if .......

now that World Cat, Mr Andrew Brown, has bought Glacier Bay Boats, if Brown will treat his new customers like his old customers.

Based on my experience I wouldn't buy any of the boats produced under the World Cat/ Powercat group label because ultimately they are produced by the same manufacturer that built the DEFECTIVE WORLD CAT DIESEL MODELS between 2004-2005 and World Cat NEVER, EVER, EVER, stood behind their boats, nor did they make it right for the owners who had them. The owners had to sue World Cat to get any form of resolution.

Now does this sound like the kind of builder you want to deal with??......not me. Not even for a $30,000 rebate because you can't place a value on integrity, piece of mind, and confidence in your boat and builder. My World Cat boat made me so UNCOMFORTABLE because it never would run right, I had no confidence in it, and since World Cat wouldn't stand behind their boat for the 16 months I tried to work it out with them, I wouldn't trust them to gain my confidence enuf to cross a one way street!

Don't be fooled by the $10k rebate. They probably jack the original price up $30k to bilk you of more money.

As for "REPEAT CUSTOMERS", that's hogwash! I owned a World Cat and I will never put another dollar out for one. I am not alone. I know 3 other guys who owned WC's and will never own them again. DO NOT BELIEVE THE MARKETING HYPE, CUZ IT'S ALL HYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!JMHO

    Look's To Me Like,

WCL is all about educating the ignorant masses. I've recieved quite an education, just glad I didn't have anything to do with his purchase. I would be willing to bet that more than one customer has made sure of the product before he/she laid down the cash because of this thread. Sound's pretty effective to me. Frank

Hey, how would you like to buy my old WC?

You mean you found some fool to buy the same piece of flotsam you did? You must have felt you were in good company. I heard you were gonna be the poster boy for Caveat Emptor magazine ...
but they deferred to someone with consumer credibility!

I am only as credible as my experience, my mechanic, my surveyors, my naval architech, my Volvo shop in Seattle, and the experiences told to me by other people who OWNED a World Crap diesel model.

As for the "Fool", I suppose when I hired a surveyor to protect my interests I was foolish to believe he was honest. When I trusted Town Creek Marina, WC's dealer, to be honest...again I was foolish. When I believed the B.S./ HYPE about the quality of World Cat boats...yup you got me there again, I was foolish. But the poor fool who bought my old boat, bought it off an insurance auction( I had nothing to do with it), and I bet he failed to investigate this model........BTW he is a boat dealer! Now who is the fool?

A BIGGER FOOL WOULD BE ANYONE WHO BUYS A WORLD CAT, GLACIER BAY OR ANY OTHER BOAT MADE BY ANDREW BROWN OR HIS BUSINESS. That is going to be the real fool, and I won't make that mistake twice.

Been married to the same woman for 23 years, my first and only wife, and been running the same business successfully for 17 years, so I know a thing or two about how to be successful in life, and it ain't by pulling the scam practices that TCM and WC pulled with this diesel model.

It is World Cat Boats (Andrew Brown, Phyllis Manning, and Scott Ellis) and Town Creek Marina (Lisa Alley-Tulevech, Steve Tulevech, Bernie Szetela, and ultimately Chuck Tulevech) who are the real fools in this deal. They are the one's who are guilty of lying and deceit, and who have shamed themselves in the marine industry, and I have heard that I am not the only one scammed by those just mentioned.

Am I a fool? Absolutely. I should have known better than to trust people I don't know, but believe me it can happen to anyone.....even you Curmudgeon. So don't be so self righteous because you are probably sitting in the sights of a scam artist yourself right this very minute.

OK, now you were the victim of a scam and it wasn't your fault at all. And I read your stuff on THT, hitch-hiked on 21 posts with the same bitching and moaning, with about the same results. I'm bettin you didn't originate your expose there because those guys would pound you into bilge mash. I see where you tried your whine on Iboats, too. Do they still close out your rants, or did they ban you altogether? They do that sometimes for folks who have nothing of significance to add to much of anything. Funniest thing, though, Towne Creek and World Cat seem to be getting on just fine, even in a recession. I know you think of yourself as the Ralph Nader of the marine world, but many folks think themselves much bigger than reality would support ...

Smudgy my friend, I don't consider myself anything more than a guy who got caught in a scam. Nothing more nothing less. Ralph nader? Probably more like "Marvin the Martian" of boat buying. My insignificant threads may not have an impact on TCM or WC's sales to a large extent, but how many losses in boat sales becomes significant? 35,000 hits means there are more than a few people searching this out. I would bet there is more loss in income than either company would admit. However, I am not doing this with the goal of sinking either of them, but I know this will make buyers go into a sale with either companies with their guards up.

Besides, when I catch crap on a website where World Cat advertises, it is because somebody feels threatened. When someone warns other fishermen about a boat issue, only someone threatened would be critical. But in reality, I could care less if someone on THT, Iboats, 360tuna, or any other site doesn't like what I write. They mean nothing to me, nor does their opinion sway my commitment to what I am doing. It actually makes my resolve that much stronger.

    Thanks for the motivation
