That'll come after I get the crap out first... I did that direct on the Deep C before getting the crap out and it left an uneven appearance... This boat needs to be kept like absolute new...

I would try Simple Green and a Very "SuperLight" abrasive pad

I deal with this issue on a few vessels ,make sure you watch down hill on the simple green it wil streak were ever it runs down.

next i would try Finesse compound

I found a new wax to me and it is called Perfect Polish ,you will thank me later ,this stuff is the heat

The ultimate fix is to get the transom clear coated
I run one vessel that has it and at the end of each day you can wet her down and hit with a rag the soot falls off ,,the swim paltform is coated as well ,it makes the transom look new in 10-15 minutes after hosing and wiping

On and Off.... will take it right off, but be careful not to leave it on to long.. Kahuna Hull Cleaner is another product I've used that worked well... I've got a Lugger which is known for heavy soot and smoke blackening.
    Good Luck

    my ritual:
    1) soap ,orpine, mild detergents
    2) joy, then a good degreaser
    3) 3M cleaner/wax with an orbital
    4) 3M wax
    5) finish coat of hi-temp. Mold Release wax, it won't break down and fail when the exhaust temps get higher. Repeat the mold release wax monthly.

On/Off does has nothing that will liquify or clean carbon-based soot and dirt. Keeping a good finish coat of wax, as well as being absolutely sure that you attack the transom as soon as you dock (before it cools) will help the process.

Grabbed myself where the hairs grow short and went at it with the 3m route.... Dug and dug and she came up right... Had a fun time with old invisble adhesive from old letters... Busted out the artillery on that. Now I need to find a fingernail file to get rid of it before the missus gets home...

I actually being in the lure business have a large supply of mold release wax. For that matter I also use mirror glaze sometimes in my molds...

Before getting too carried away I'm thinking about adding a coat of wax to the non skid at least above the transom... That cleaned up with my regular stuff just foine but I would like to protect it. Have anyof you waxed the non skid before? I did a test area and it looks a touch grayish to me... Maybe any hints on which pad to use on the orbital for that duty so it distributes eaven and doesn't just pile up betwen the bumps?

Make sure to use the Hi Temp Wax - it will handle the sun better than normal mold release wax.
