    I've got a Khoeler 8Kw in mine - Specifically Koheler 8EOZ.

The engine is Yanmar - and has been solid... The only real issue I've had with it are the belts, but correcting the alignment has taken care of that.

the Phasor is a tits up rig!

usually has a low rpm kabota engine side, stainless steel plates, simple brush systems and easy to work on... price is usually great also.

thanks man im glad to hear that, because the main reason im lookin at a phasor is because they have a good dealership down here in trinidad but i havnt had any experience with them, how are they compared to a westerbeke like are they quieter or do they burn less fuel

    Greg,

I feel like you've probably already looked in to this, but if you haven't.... The Westerbeke 8 kw has a pretty good record of longevity, if your driver (engine) is still in good shape, you may want to check out the rebuilt generater end's from Westerbeke. It's not a hard job to change, you'll have a warranty, and the cost will be way lower. Just a thought. Frank

yea the engine end is in good shape and its just that we have spent almost 3 grand on repairs in the last 2 years, the genny has around 3000 hrs but it si is 21 years old and i dont know if its worth spending so much money on a generator with that kind of age. also she has also developed an oil leak and the water pump is leaking . we are going on a 5 day trip to the grenadines in july and we definitely dont want to loose the genny up there cuz there a re no marinas. so i feel im just going to bite the bullet and then seel of the westerbeke engine to a yachtie,
    thanks greg
