    Furuno options

    Guys,
I wanted to know what would be my best option fishfinder/sonar to go with a 12inch Navnet?
What are the differences between 1 2 and 3KW transducers?
Does anyone have a DUAL-FREQ SEARCHLIGHT SONAR CH-300 and what are its capabilities?
    Thanks in advance..

I put a CH-250 in my last boat and liked it enough to put one in my current boat as well (about $25K installed). That being said, it is very complicated (in the sense that there are lots of variables that must be adjusted to get the most out of the unit).

As far as vertical fishfinders go, 1KW is sufficient for most applications. Without a side-by-side comparison it is hard to know for sure, but I think the performance differences are primarily in depths over 200 feet. In case you don't know, as I understand it, there are two benefits of a higher-powered transducer. First it sends out a stronger ping, so that stronger ping sends back a stronger echo when it hits something, and the stronger echo means a better signal to noise ratio, allowing you to "filter" more noise and thereby display more pure just real targets. Second, the higher powered transducer is also a better receiver (the transducer sends a ping then starts listening), so the signal to noise is further enhanced.

So far as I know, Furuno does not yet have a CHIRP FF. It sounds like that may be worth waiting for (but when it does come out it should plug right in to your NN3D).
