Gcredle, my C Series Raytheon unit (just before they were bought out and changed to Raymarine) is at least 10 years old. It has been getting a little funky at times with DGPS antenna not always reading all the satellites plus other issues. I'm going to take a look at it however and see if I can overlay the new radar with the same unit. I would prefer looking at one screen, especially for the points you make. K.I.S.S. whenever possible. I may even consider an entirely new system with the newest radar and GPS/fishfinder unit all built into one. However, I want to look into and find out if I can migrate all my waypoints over to a new unit. I would hate to loose between 300-400 way points that I've put into the system over the last 10 years of performance. The key ones are of course the ground fish waypoints.
Gotcha--
OK--so I think it would be pretty difficult to find a radar for that system. Scratch that idea.
On the flip side---your unit should have a data card slot on it--use this card to back up your GPS data on either SC or MMC card format. Once you have downloaded your gps co-ordinates on this card--save them on your home computer or laptop. If you are interested in another mfg of product---if you use Google search you can find free programs that will allow you to transfer and convert data from one chartplotter mfg to another. I just did this recently helped a friend who purchased a Raymarine chartplotter after having an old Garmin for years...was not terribly difficult.
Even if you are not transferring data---might be a good idea to save your existing waypoints now so you do not lose them in the case of a total chartplotter failure.
