    Cool Furuna 295? or 1150?

    Have to get new fishfinder (ouch) anyone have / using new furuno FCV 295 or FCV 1150? Have to make a decision soon so any and all comments will be appreciated!...thanks, Tommy

    Basic difference is 10" vs. 12" screen, otherwise the 2 units along with the DFF3 black box are all very similar feature-wise. Do not skimp on the transducer, that is where the proverbial rubber meets the road with regards to the quality of the returns you'll get on the display. If you have to choose, save $$ on the display and spend it on the 'ducer.

    i installed a 295 this spring and captadamnj is right about transducers. i called tech support at furuno for advice and their advice was not the most $$ . they did recommend individual transducers and not a dual frequency unit. so far the unit works pretty good.
