What type water filter do you have?

I had the exact same problem on my 1989 44 Ocean. It first started out only doign that occasionally and then it became almost constant.

Found out that the original water filter cannister design just wasn't that great. Replaced the unit with a household unit from Home Depot...GE Smartwater. Have not had a problem in 18 months.

btw the boat is running great now with the new trim tabs and prop chek. im now cruisin at 21 kts with full load and toppin out 23 b4 i used to get about 2 kts less. also the boat is runnin much more level the other day we had about 20ppl onboard and she didnt plow the way she used to

If I understand you correctly, you have removed the discharge hose from the pump and the flow is good. When you hook the pump back up and let it build pressure the pump will stop and hold pressure. when you open a faucet the flow is good at first and then slows to much. If that is what is happening there is most likely a restiction somewhere.

If you have a hot water heater, check to see if the pressure relief is in the closed position. In the past, when I have winterized my system, I leave this open - but sometimes forget to close it. Having this open will not allow the system to build up pressure.

thanks for all the advice you guys a re giving me im goin back down tomorro to attempt again but i guess its just boat, if everythign worked the way it should it wouldnrt be called a boat.

hey guys i got the problem solved thanks for tthe help we found a non return valve in the system that was malfuntioning but i do not know whether is should put it back because i dont see a purpose for it
