I have a 1986 41 Viking with in-deck boxes. I insulated the fiberglass boxes on all sides (outside) with 1/2 " thick rigid foam board insulation (available at home centers) and then taped the entire outside with silver/metal HVAC tape, not cloth duct tape, and I could hold ice all day in the boxes. It would help if you could insulate the lids also but you would have to glass that in to stop it from getting damaged by fish and to be able to clean it. Last year, I had aluminum boxes fabricated because the flanges on the fiberglass boxes failed and I used the foil/bubble wrap insulation and it flat out didn't work. I tore it off and am now applying the foam board I used the first time. My 2 cents...Karl
