How can you find birds with the help of your radar. I also heard that you can find weedlines and debris, and sometimes rips. How would you find weedlines, debris, and rips with radar.
To do this best you really need an open array 6kw or better, in the right conditions, aka flat calm smaller 4kw or smaller dome's can pick up these item's too, but in rough seas or a chop they will have a tougher time unless you are fairly close to it. As stated above, you have to learn how to use the gain and tune it in correctly and identify what is on the screen, best way is to do it when you find bird's and can see clearly and learn what it looks like on the screen so when it is in the distance you have an idea what your looking at.
I have a 4kw dome and in anything under 2ft I can find these thing's, but in anything rougher it become's challengine until your nearby them. Open Array is the way to go if you plan to use your radar on a regular basis to find bird's and rips.
Gain up and rain rate and sea down almost to zero and look for "ghosts" a pulsating hase on the screen that will be there and after a few sweeps will fade and then show up again
