Favorite marinas in the Abacos?

[Necessary Evil]

Looking for recommendations on marinas in the Abacos. We would like to find a base that included nice onshore accommodations for the ladies and good, safe facilities for our 38' Tiara. I hear Marsh Harbour has water pollution problems? I need a place where its ok to chuck a kid in off the dock Has anyone rented a house with a private pier?

elbow key has a marina, white sound, man-o-war, guana, green turtle, spanish cay, grand cay.. you can also move around some..
as for houses look in hope town to tillo cay on in and out rentals.. great place to get golf carts..

Spent the month of May at Sea Spray Marina on Elbow Cay. Decent marina, good prices and friendly staff. I would say it's about as safe as it gets in the Bahamas. Elbow Cay is nice, good food, good accommodations, good reef but not the center of night life. We also spent a couple of weeks in July at Boat Harbour Marina. Marina and hotel(Abaco Beach Resort) are nice, but Marsh Harbour is so so. Water pollution? I would not drink the tap water but the marina flushes with the tide into Sea of Abaco. I jumped in to do a little bottom work and came out just fine.

I would 2nd Orchid Bay. Whatever you do don't stay at boat harbor marina. We were there from the end of May-July they said the rate would be 2.25 a foot if we stayed longer than a month. Instead they charged 3.25 a foot for the month and then 2.25 a foot after the first month. They lost a good customer. We have always had a good time, but now we will have a good time somewhere else, like Orchid Bay. The BBC is not having a tournament there next year. Instead they will be a Orchid Bay.

Sea Spray on Elbow Key- I believe the marina managers name is Junior, real nice. Very protected, safe island if want to leave boat, good access to rest of Sea of Abaco. If staying a while, rent a smaller outboard to get around, lots of places that rent them, like a 22' Albury. They have cottages there and restuarant on site.
