    EPIRB/PLB

In the market for either a PLB or an EPIRB. Which would you guys buy and whats the best bang for the buck. I know that sounds bad but i wanna know if the PLB will be effective or just a waste of money?

A PLB is a good back up to a full blown EPIRB. One big thing... PLB's are not automatically deployed. Most people leave them in a ditch bag, but what happens if you can't get to the bag, or it goes down with the boat?? They are useless.

I hate seeing people skimp on safety to save a few bucks, or get a few more gallons of fuel by cutting corners.

Spend the money and Get a automatically released EPIRB. Mount it right on the hard top, and forget about it!!

There is a reason PLB's aren't USCG approved for inspected vessels, they don't fit the bill of requirements for a ideal safety device.

I have an ACR EPIRB, the auto activated unit. I hope I never have to see its features.
