    Engines...

Wow 2009 and still we have people who don't back up thier product, people or work!!! We finally have our boat back and out of the shop again.. I think shes still shaking but they say she "is not! and she is on the steering side without the ram.." (I guess we didn't put 400 plus hours on her already and it never shook or felt like this before...).. anyway what do I know I am just a 'Sportfish Captain'... I do still hope Merc see's this post.. the boats I run on a day to day basis have a feel for them, a different sound, a vibration on any of the boats I key in on in a second... I even asked for help on here from a cpl people that deal Mercs but I guess this forum only caterers to the high n mighty clique of some people. In my professon we have to call it like it is everyday. so here it is... Merc warrantee system is ok .. not great... they take everything a shop tells them above you even when the shop cannot get the computer printout because they don't have the program...go figure... so we are going to the Miami show to speak directly to merc about this and show them every reciept we have... not that anyone realy cares .. but we have 27k in this set without the boat cost .. think if you were in my shoes you'd feel the same? PS: got the call from one of my sportfish friends on a charter seen my boat out of the water on a sea trial.. the merc book is wet and drying out on my dining room table.. all my wifes new vee-berth interior is salt soaked and if I don't run my own boat let alone other peoples boats like that , why should someone else run mine like that? Merc .. you have lost a customer over this and I hope you loose more just due to how you are dealing with the people who buy from you. my information is very easy to get and people know me down here. You and your shops treated us like crap. I don't think there is any other way to put it anymore and Monday I will be trailering my boat to a Yamaha dealer to get a actuall paper print-out on each engine. it shakes at idle and shakes more at 1/2 throttle. But your mechanics said .. thats the way they run.. PS: the starboard one is still running great and it sits right next to the port one still... (it does not shake at all, even with 60 hrs more on her..) go figure huh??? today though we go fishing and diving on our boat shake n all because it has been a long time! Have a great day ....!

    she's not a verado..

We bought a set of the 225 four stroke yamahas that merc converted over to black cowlings.. she is yamaha throughout except for the paint and color.. 06 counter rotating pair.. 1 runs great and I'd bet it makes the 4,000 hr life span if she does not have to push her sickly brother her whole life...

    Quest,

I hate to ask because I feel that you probably already did send this info to Merc. Another piece of advice is that you're only as good as your dealer. If you can't get satisfaction from the guy's you are dealing with,MOVE ON. I'm not saying that I'm "all that" with the dealership's I have, but I have definitley got thing's done that other's couldn't. I look out for my customer first and if he's in the right, I WILL NOT go away. It doesn't sound from what your sayimg that your dealer is all that strong. If your not satisfied shop for another dealer, get opinion's from other customer's first. I have Honda's on my boat, so far so good. The reason I went that route is because I have an outstanding no BS dealer here. I hate to hear of problem's like you're having. There IS someone out there that can and is willing to help you. Good hunting.Frank,SeaPower

    great post frank...

we did buy the engines from Bass pro.. they wanted us to leave the boat and it would not even be worked on for a week and then we were told they had no yama /merc mechanics left... we carried the engines at first to a shop where the guy wanted me to sign a work order on the spot and had parts listed already and the cowlings had never even been popped off.. in all shes been through 4 shops so far and everyone just struggles with this issue on this engine. somehow our aluminum wheel on that engine is bent over now also so diving and fishing yesterday was sorta a masssage deal also... whats another 130 bucks outta the pocket anyway huh??? the last dealer even sat on the back of my boat and sorta tried to trash us out also "looking" for more money...GEEESSSH!....!!! I guess it's true that merc does not pay the shops that much anymore.. we brought these cats fresh dolphin, tuna, lobsters, yellow eye snappers for the shop even and tipped the mechanic... then the boat would not run right and the guy did all he could do cleaned everything etc... sometimes it just sucks.. by the way to date we bought the engines , warrantees, rigged the boat , the power is just over a year old and we have spent 4,800 bucks / down time / travel time / and still the engine has gremlins..
