    Electronics Help

    Hi -

There are way to many choices out there.

Is it better to have two separate fishfinder and GPS units?

Looking to install new electronics but keep costs around $3,000 - $3,500 installed.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Have to have a trough hull transducer since I have an inboard.

The following set ups have been suggested:

Raymarine C-80 after all the extras (antenna,Transducer, map) and the install for this is over $5,000.

Northstar M84 Not Digital...does this matter?

Garmin 4208 Combo unit...Fish Finder any good???

    or
Furuno FCV620 Fish Finder combined with Garmin 4208

    Please help!

    That's a winner right there.

Have an FCV 620 and a Garmin 3206. I would definetely reccomend both. And the Garmin you are looking at is even nicer.

I have a North star M84 with antenna and 2 chart cards for sale for $1000.00. Impressive unit, but I upgraded to a 6100 withthe sat weather, this needs to go.

    garmin & furuno

garmin 525 w/xm weather, furuno finder, & airmar transducer

you should be able to stay close to that price. remember west marine will match any price, but not ebay. also, the garmin 3210/3206, good stuff, but the graphics are not near as good as the new garmins. they also do not have very good sounders. the new vision cards are awesome!

Much depends on the type of fishing you plan on doing. If bottom fishing is important a combo unit is NOT a good idea. Navigating through screens trying to get to a temp red, or a zoom or a map or a chart .... is simply not efficient when you try to locate a needle in the haystack.
I have the FCV 585 bottom machine and the 4208 gps and am very happy with that decision.

I think you should go with:

Furuno FCV620 Fish Finder combined with Garmin 4208

    Good luck!
