    Electronic Questions....??

I'm looking to upgrade my electronics over the winter and I need a little guidance. I'm looking for a nice fishfinder and a gps/chartplotter, I do not need radar. I don't mind if its a multifunction unit or two seperate units. Does anyone have some insight or direction I should go in. I'm looking for quality products but not super exspensive.

    Thanks in advance!!

I have the furuno GP 7000 that I use as a backup and I love it.

Great sounder and the GPS is the shizzle.

Don't know what your price range is but I can tell you that I am very happy with it.

Is there really any brand other than Furuno? Don't know of many people who have Furuno gear that wished they had bought a different brand. When I commercial fished Furuno was THE bench mark. Day in and day out, their hard to beat. Nothing quite like questioning your electronic's, confidence is worth every dollar.Frank,SeaPower

I was looking at combo's in the 800 range and looked at the Garmin 527 dc and Lowrance combo units. I stumbled on a great deal on a Hummingbird 787c2i and saw that the specs were better than both Garmin and Lowrance in the same category. I've heard folks having problems dialing in the transducers on the Garmin due to the narrow beam on both transducers but the GPS worked great. Anyways so far I'm happy with the Hummingbird and this is coming from someone who steered away from HB from the start.

Check out the new A series units from Raymarine. I have the A57d and it is excellent. It is a chartplotter and FF combo with true digital ff capabilities. THey can also use the platinum charts , receive Sirius satellite weather and radio, and AIS if you want it. They are very easy to use also. Be sure to check out all the manufacturer's units yourself and don't take a person's word for which is the best. Heck, it's your money.
